Course Overview
The Doctor of Law is the highest academic degree in the legal field, and focuses primarily on advanced scientific research and the production of new legal knowledge, not just studying courses. The program requires a high capacity for critical analysis, independent research, and writing a thesis (doctoral dissertation) that provides a real addition to an area of law such as international, commercial, or constitutional law. This program is mostly enrolled by those holding a Master of Laws (LL.M) or equivalent, and is aimed at those who wish to pursue academic or research work or reach senior legal positions.
